Light

Orchids generally thrive in indirect light. However, they prefer to grow in bright conditions. Direct sunlight can burn orchid leaves. Therefore, partial shade or a bright window sill is an ideal location for an orchid.

Temperature and Humidity

Orchids prefer temperate, humid environments. Daytime temperatures should be between 20-30°C, and nighttime temperatures should be around 15-20°C. High humidity is essential for orchids, so regularly spraying the plant with water will increase the humidity.

Soil and Pot Selection

Orchids prefer light, loose, and well-draining soil to allow air to flow through the roots. Specialized materials like orchid soil or coconut husk can be used. It’s also important to have drainage holes in the bottom of the pot, as soaking orchid roots in water can cause rot.

Watering

Orchids have different water needs than other plants. It’s important to wait for the roots to dry completely before watering them thoroughly. Constantly submerging the roots can lead to root rot. Additionally, spraying water on the orchid’s leaves helps maintain moisture balance.
